The dish is potted with shallow rounded sides rising to an everted rim, supported on a short ring foot. The interior is covered overall with a pale sky-blue glaze with vibrant purple splashes. There are five small spur marks to the slightly recessed base. 6 ¼ in. (15.9 cm.) diam.

Also compare the present lot to the purple-splashed dish in the Percival David Collection at the British Museum, illustrated by R. Scott, in Imperial Taste, Chinese Ceramics from the Percival David Foundation, London and Los Angeles, 1989, p. 39, no. 15. NotesUne paire de bougeoirs quasiment identique fait partie des collections du musée du Louvre auquel elle fût donnée par Claude Sere en 2011 (Inv. OA 12372). Ils y sont présentés comme étant d'après l'orfèvre Nicolas Delaunay (1646-1727) et exécuté par le sculpteur Corneille Van Clève (1646-1732). Ils constituent probablement les archétypes des modèles présentant soit des personnages avec des enfants sur leur dos soit des couples de personnages.
