A very fine bronze eight-lobed mirror with four fruit motifs, China, 2nd half of Tang dynasty (618-907). Photo Nagel

the well cast mirror is decorated around the central knob with four fruit and flower sprays in relief symbolizing luck and happiness, two with many berries, one with a fruiting bud and a large leaf and a flowering spray with a bloom with five petals and a large leaf. The decorated mirror silvery shiny side with some green corrosion patches, the specular side also with the original silvery, shiny surface and larger areas and patches of malachite green and lapis lazuli blue corrosion. Apart the corrosion in good condition. D. 18,6 cm. Estimate 3600 €
