With a very large coat-of-arms of the Dutch East India Company in early famille rose enamels above the V.O.C monogram, all within the inscription CONCORDIA RES PARVA CRESCUNT.1728 (sic); 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) diameter. Estimate $20,000 - $30,000

Notes: From a tea service undoubtedly made for officials of the Dutch East India Co., its design likely based on a silver ducatoon issued in 1728 and in circulation at Batavia the following year, the border reflecting the coin's milled edges. The teapot and a teabowl were also in the Benjamin F. Edwards III Collection, sold Christie's, New York, 26 January 2010, lots 13 and 14. Another teabowl and saucer, in the collection of Peter H.B. Frelinghuysen Jr., was sold Christie's, New York, 24 January 2012, lot 105.

Christie's. English Pottery and Chinese Export Art, 28 January 201, New York, Rockefeller Plaza.
