Centering an emerald-cut sapphire weighing 26.18 carats, the mounting accented by round diamonds weighing approximately 4.50 carats, further decorated with round emeralds and sapphires, size 6¾, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered N.Y. 3869.

Accompanied by GRS report no. GRS2013-057085 stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating.

The central knob is within a square band of twelve nipples alternating with the characters of the Twelve Branches, surrounded by 'TLV' motifs and eight nipples, the Guardians of the Four Directions (Blue Dragon, Red Bird, White Tiger and the Dark Warrior), as well as other animals, birds and pixie, all encircled by an inscription, a hatchured border, and sawtooth bands on the raised rim. There are areas of malachite and ferrous encrustation. 6 ½ in. (16.5 cm.) diam., Japanese wood box - 578 g

The central knob is in the center of a confronted dragon and tiger above the small figures of two birds and a ram, all encircled by an inscription and a hatchured border below sawtooth bands on the raised rim. The old hexagonal-cut diamond, weighing 8.18 carats, within a delicatedly pierced platinum mount millegrain-set with old brilliant and single-cut diamonds, the reeded hoop with further engraved decoration, ring size M½, cased

Note: This unusual hexagonally-cut diamond is a variety of the 'stellar brilliant-cut', which can be traced back to the early 17th century. This particular diamond is notable for its hexagonal culet (bottom facet), around which radiate six facets forming a star. Hexagonal-cuts came into vogue during the first half of the 20th century as a popular choice for engagement rings.

Two blue and white vessels, mid-17th century

One is a small 'pomegranate' ewer, its body divided into six lobes, each decorated with flowers below a key-fret border on the shoulder and birds perched in flowering branches on the neck that tapers to a rim in the form of an out-curved calyx. The front of the body is applied with slender leaves that trail from the base of the branch-form spout. The other is a 'Hatcher Cargo' blue and white bowl, the sides pierced with cash diaper between five medallions decorated with flowers or landscapes joined by a lower band of petal lappets. Ewer 6 ¼ in. (16 cm.) high, bowl 4 ¼ in. (10.7 cm.) diam.
