John Calvin Ferguson founded Nanjing University and Jiaotong University. He acted as a buyer of Chinese art for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and his personal collection forms the core of several art museums in China, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xian Jiaotong University.
