Lot 113. A blue and white 'Prunus and Bamboo' vase, Kangxi period (1662-1722). Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2016
The vase is painted with a large prunus branch beside rocks and bamboo. The mouth is mounted with a later white metal rim and cover with a stylised floral design. 9 in. (23 cm.) high including later white metal cover. Approx. half of the foot rim has been restored, with associated overspraying to the base. This is possibly to conceal chips. Although the mount to the mouth rim cannot be removed for inspection, it is likely that the neck has been damaged and reduced and that the mount is concealing this. There is some general age-related surface wear and scratches. Estimation: USD 1,500 - 2,000
